Clusters of cells which are pigmented and show themselves as small, dark spots often raised above the skin are known as moles. The medical term is nevus plural nevi. These growths can vary greatly in size and color. Although nevi can grow on the body anywhere, they typically appear on the face, legs, arms and torso.
